One price for soft water: water softener + RO installation cost

The number, and what it is for

The water softener and reverse osmosis installation cost at DE Home Services is $2,999* with standard installation. *Price is for the softener plus under-sink RO package with standard installation for a suitable utility-water home. Nonstandard plumbing, electrical or access work is quoted before agreement.

That figure is the installed price for the whole package: a whole house water softener at the main, an under-sink reverse osmosis tap at the kitchen sink, the plumbing to connect both, and the labor of the licensed local plumbers who do the work in one visit for most homes. It is not a starting price that grows on install day, and it is not a per-unit price with the labor quoted later.

Most Orlando-area homes on utility water fit the standard job. OUC reports that the average hardness of its water is 129 ppm, or 7 grains per gallon, which is squarely the range a residential softener is built for, so the equipment in the package is sized for typical local water rather than for an extreme case.

What the $2,999* covers

The softener: a whole house salt-based unit installed at the point where water enters the house, with its brine tank, connected to a nearby drain and outlet so the regeneration cycle runs on its own.

The reverse osmosis system: a multi-stage under-sink unit with a storage tank and its own dedicated tap at the kitchen sink, connected into the existing drain.

The installation: the plumbing at the main, the connections under the sink, testing both systems, and showing you what the small upkeep tasks are before the plumber leaves. There is no separate pre-installation visit; the fit is confirmed from your water source and plumbing before the appointment is booked, so the visit you schedule is the installation itself.

What it does not include is anything nonstandard, and the next section lists exactly what that means so there is no guessing.

What moves a job out of standard

A plumbing loop that has to be built to reach the equipment. No drain or power outlet near where the softener needs to sit. Access that requires extra work to reach the main. A kitchen sink that needs changing to take the reverse osmosis tap. Plumbing beyond a standard connection. And a private well, which is its own category because well water has to be tested before equipment can be sized for it.

Any of those is priced in writing before you agree to it. The point of naming them here is that you can look at your own house and know in advance whether you are standard, and most homes are.

Tell us your water source and where the kitchen sink sits, and you'll have a firm price before you commit.

Why a softener-only quote is a different job

A price for a softener alone, or for a reverse osmosis tap alone, is not comparable to the package price, and the two should not be laid side by side. The package includes both systems and the labor for both, in one visit. A softener-only figure leaves the drinking-water tap out entirely, and a reverse osmosis figure leaves scale on every fixture in the house.

If you want only one of the two, ask, and you will get a written price for that job. The package exists because most Orlando homes want both results, softer water everywhere and better-tasting water at the tap, and doing them in one visit is cheaper than two appointments.

Utility water or a private well

Orange County draws its water from the Floridan Aquifer through a series of wells, and OUC serves the City of Orlando and parts of the county from the same source, so hardness across the area is broadly similar and the standard package is built for it.

A private well is different. The water has not been treated by a utility, so it is tested first, and the equipment is sized to what the test shows. A well home can absolutely get a softener and reverse osmosis tap; it just gets its own written quote rather than the package price.

Paying once, then salt

The package price is a purchase. You own the equipment when the plumber leaves, and there is no monthly program attached to it. The running cost afterward is salt for the brine tank and, on a schedule you are shown at install, replacement filters and a membrane for the reverse osmosis unit.

Some companies in the market rent equipment or bundle deliveries into a monthly plan. That can suit some households; the DE Home Services package is simply not structured that way, so the cost conversation is the installed price and then consumables you buy where you like.

How to get a firm number

Four facts are enough: your town, the utility name on your water bill or that you are on a private well, roughly where the water main enters the house, and whether there is room under the kitchen sink. Call, text or send the form with those and the written price comes back before you decide anything.

The plumber who arrives already knows what your home needs, so the appointment you book is the installation, not a walkthrough. That is the whole reason the cost can be stated on this page instead of after a sales visit.
